About Me
I have years of experience teaching singers of all levels and ages. Originally from the Bay Area,
I trained with Julliard trained professional opera singer Suzanne Darley from age 12. After graduating from college, I went on to study with her as a teaching apprentice, later on teaching her entire studio for a summer in her absence.
I received my BFA in Musical Theatre from Penn State, where I learned from Musical Theatre pedagogy thought- leader Mary Saunders- Barton, creator of the Bel Canto Can Belto curriculum. I am a certified voice teacher with the Institute for Vocal Advancement (IVA), where I received vocal pedagogy training, Recently, I completed training with Vocal Health Education (VHE) and am now a certified Vocal Health First Aider.
As an actor, I have performed around the world and the country in National Tours, on cruise ships, and in many regional theatres.
I specialize in virtually teaching students with classical backgrounds how to find their mix/belt, working with actors wanting to find their singing voice, and audition/performance preparation. My students have gone on to top training programs, professional careers, and most importantly, they leave my studio with confidence in their growth and skills as a singer and performer. I am also a vocal technician for Musical Theatre College Auditions (MTCA) and am an Associate Teacher with SKB Voice Studio,
Teaching Philosophy
I believe that solid technique and artistic expression go hand in hand. Singers need many technical tools to choose from in order to express themselves effectively. On the other hand, you can have the best technique in the world, but if you don’t have a clear and creative story to tell, no one will want to listen! I also believe in creating a safe and encouraging space for my students to learn and grow. I will always push my students to their full potential, while being their #1 fan!
